Harriers Friendly At Forest Green Cancelled

Last season's Vanarama National League play-off winners have made the decision to cancel their pre-season friendly with Kidderminster Harriers to due concerns about the pitch.

National League North Kiddy were set to travel to the New Lawn on Saturday (29th) for their penultimate warm-up fixture but now the game will be played behind closed doors at a different location.

A statement on the Forest Green Rovers website explained the situation: "As fans who were at Saturday’s game with Bristol Rovers saw, the New Lawn saw unseasonably heavy rain before, during and after the fixture, which has taken a toll on the playing surface.

"For the sake of its season-long condition, we’ve taken the tough decision to call off our last home pre-season friendly. The game will now take place behind closed doors at an alternative ground to give both teams a good workout ahead of the season. Regrettably, this location will not be open to fans, but the game will be covered on our social media channels.

"We understand this cancellation will be disappointing for both FGR and Kidderminster fans, but with a heavy schedule of home fixtures throughout August and September ahead for our pitch, we believe this was the right decision.

"Fans who have purchased tickets will be able to get a full refund. If you purchased tickets via the FGR online shop your refund will be processed automatically – there is nothing you need to do. For fans that bought tickets using a credit or debit card, please call 01453 834860 to arrange your refund with the same card on hand. Finally if cash was used to buy tickets at the ground, you’ll need to visit the New Lawn to receive your cash refund.

"FGR’s reception is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm to handle any refund or future ticket purchasing requests."
