Harrad Becomes a Gull

Vanarama National League club Torquay United have completed the....

....signing of experienced striker Shaun Harrad on a deal until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old started his career with his home-town club Notts County where he came through the ranks to make twenty-nine appearances as well as having spells out on loan at Gresley Rovers and Tamworth.

He joined Burton Albion in 2005 and helped the club secure their Football League status with 16 goals during their promotion campaign four years later.

A popular figure amongst The Brewers’ faithful, he scored 21 goals during their first season in the Football League before being signed by Northampton Town at the turn of 2011.

His next move took him to Bury, from where he was loaned to Rotherham United and Cheltenham Town.

Making a return to Notts County at the start of 2014/15, he spent the second half of last term out on loan back at Cheltenham.

Earning caps for the England C team earlier in his career, he has been turning out for Worcester City in the National League North this season.

“We’ve signed a proven player,” said player-manager, Kevin Nicholson. “I’ve known him since his days coming through the ranks at Notts County and have always kept track of him.

“One look at his scoring record and the number of games that he has played over the years will tell you we have a real catch on our hands.

“Things maybe have not gone so well for him at Worcester this season but that only adds to the appeal as I have a good, experienced player on my hands with a point to prove.

“He’ll be with us for the rest of the season and will be available for Tuesday’s game against Welling United.”
