Stones boss Jay Saunders had been working on a deal to keep the 23-year-old at the Gallagher S|tadium but that concluded yesterday evening.
Saunders told the club`s official website: “I am disappointed to see Josh go as he’d done well for us. We’d been talking before the season ended about next year and he was very much in my plans.
“It’s that time of year when players are getting offers elsewhere and despite my best efforts and a good offer, he’s decided to move on.”
The defender signed for the Stones last summer from Eastbourne Borough and made thirty-five appearances during the club’s second season in the National League.
Highlights of his time with the club came against Torquay United when he scored a late winner at the Gallagher Stadium, and at Chester last month with a long-range effort that sealed a vital three points.
