The Sandgrounders were beaten 4-0 at Brackley Town on Tuesday night but the scoreline didn't reflect the entire picture of the game.
Davies side had the better of the opening chances yet their failure to score came back to haunt them as Gareth Dean and Aaron Williams struck before half-time.
Williams netted another after the break and then Shane Byrne added the gloss in injury time.
"You sense that the way we're conceding goals at the moment it will only take one opportunity for them to score, that's where we're at," said Davies.
"It was another set piece that we conceded from, we'll have to spend a lot of time now on the training ground working hard on that. They scored from that and the heads go down a little bit.
"It was a flattering scoreline, the managers and the players all said that themselves but that doesn't affect me, it's the manner in which we're conceding goals at the minute and that's something we need to address as a group and myself as manager."
