Happy Hinshelwood Hails York's Ability To Answer Critics

Adam Hinshelwood feels York City righted a wrong during Tuesday night’s live DAZN game.

The title–chasers’ 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic sent out a message to the other clubs chasing promotion.

Malachi Walcott and Ollie Pearce scored the goals at Boundary Park and although the win didn’t take the Minstermen back top of the National League table, it did put ten points between York and the Latics.

Hinshelwood cut a frustrated figure on Saturday after Sutton United ended their relentless winning home run.

The smile was back on his face as his team moved to within a point of leaders Forest Green Rovers.

“Everything that we didn’t do on Saturday, I think we produced today,” Hinshelwood told the York Press.

“Full credit to the players, they do it time and time again when there’s a bit of doubt chucked their way, or a bit of criticism. Rightly so, because we were poor, but they responded excellently.

“I thought that we were braver, we dug in and defended our box with a real passion. That’s what I’ve seen for the majority of the season and that’s the standard that we’ve now got to get in training and day to day.

“They’ve done it all season so when you see them fall below those standards, I’ll be the first one to be on their case.”

York look to build on Tuesday night’s three points with a win at Boston United on Saturday.
