Gulls Gave Woking Too Much Respect Says Stand In Manager Herrera

Torquay United's stand in manger Robbie Herrera knows there is no hiding place after losing 4-1 to Woking this afternoon.

The Gulls poor start to the season continued as the side slipped to another defeat.

Herrera has stepped in to help since manager Kevin Nicholson left the club only ten days into the new season.

The former Torquay player says too much respect was given to the Cards in Surrey.

“It is something we have tried to work on over the last few weeks," he said. "About stepping on, instead of taking that backwards to be on the front foot. Again, we allowed them too much time and space. It is a good finish but we have allowed him to do so.

“If we had got the first goal then I think it would have been a different result today. We’re waiting for things to happen instead of making things happen, I think that’s obvious. We’re waiting for something to click but you have to work for that.

“That is how it has been for the last week or so, but no excuses. We put out a team that we felt could go and win the game and it didn’t come off.”
