Gulls Fans Feeling At Home Away To Truro!

Did you hear about the National League game where away fans outnumbered the home supporters by making up 98 per cent of the crowd?

Torquay United fans travel in large numbers, but their game ‘at’ Truro City have statisticians reaching for their record books.

Truro were playing back at Plainmoor for their New Year’s Day game - and Gulls fans took full advantage.

The teams have been groundsharing this season and the White Tigers were back for one last time, making the two hour trip and taking a valiant 52 with them.

Of the 2,812 inside the ground, 2,760 we’re backing Torquay’s National League South title charge.

They may have been in the other dressing room but the extra ‘away’ support did the trick as Torquay won 3-1.

Manager Gary Johnson is delighted with his team and that’s surprise - the victory was win number nine in a row.

He said: “It was a really good performance in difficult conditions.

“Truro really gave us a game and we had to work very hard to get the three points.”
