Gulls Boss Johnson Has A Huge Weight Off His Shoulders!

On Friday, Torquay United manager Gary Johnson was confused with a local skip company owner on local radio.

So it’s a good job his team’s FA Cup finishing once again wasn’t rubbish this weekend.

The Gulls are going great guns in the completion - a 4-1 win over Winchester City saw them score for the 14th time in their three games.

The weekend didn’t start well for Johnson on the BBC when an on-air gaff saw the manager put on the spot all across Devon.

And after three ties against lower league opposition they are in the hat on Monday and could face a big League One or League Two side.

“We were very good in the first half, I was delighted with them,” Johnson said.

“The word I would use is relentless. When we play like that it’s good to watch, the opposition couldn’t cope.

“The only criticism I would have is the second half display.

“The crowd don’t want to see their side take their foot off the gas and we did that. They want to see them keep going and keep going.”

Torquay return to National League South action on Saturday when travel to Wealdstone.
