Guiseley Striker Becomes A Loan Pilgrim

Boston United have completed the loan signing of striker Reece Thompson on loan from National League side Guiseley AFC.

The 24-year-old, who was North Ferriby United's top scorer in the National League last season with 12 goals, has linked up with the Pilgrims until New Year's Day initially.

Thompson was born in Worksop and started his career with Retford United’s youth system before he served his apprenticeship with Lincoln City.

He broke the record for goals scored in the under-19 league, with 32 goals from eighteen appearances. He scored 14 goals in twenty games with Retford’s first-team from Christmas to the end of the 2012/13 season and scored 39 goals in the 2013/14 season.

He joined Frickley Athletic in October 2014 finishing the 2014/15 season with 15 goals from thirty-two matches and was rewarded with a new two-year contract by Frickley.

After a successful trial Thompson signed for then-League Two York City in August 2015 for an undisclosed fee on a two-year contract.

In September 2016 Thompson left York by mutual consent before joining their National League rivals and newly-promoted North Ferriby.

Thompson is eligible to make his debut for Boston in tomorrow's trip to high-flying Harrogate Town.

Peterborough United striker Morgan Penfold, meanwhile, has been recalled by his parent club.
