Great Week Ends On Perfect Note For Dover's Pinnock

Mitch Pinnock ended a week of celebration in perfect fashion by helping to fire Dover Athletic into the next round of the FA Trophy.

The forward scored twice in last weekend’s 4-0 demolition of Hartlepool United in the Vanarama National League.

He then celebrated his 23rd birthday on Tuesday before scoring the opener against Eastbourne Borough on Saturday.

Ryan Bird and James Alabi also scored in the 3-0 win to see Dover safely through to the FA Trophy second round.

Pinnock told DAFC TV: “It’s been a good week all round. It was a tough game but it’s always a difficult fixture when you’re playing a team from lower down."

Asked if he had been told to get into the box more by boss Chris Kinnear, he said: “Yeah, just a bit! It’s hard playing in that role because when players are bombing on you’ve got to track them as well.

“I was buzzing to get another goal. There were a few good balls coming across the box today so I could have had more than one.”

On Dover’s chances of success in the FA Trophy, Pinnock added: “I think we’ve got a really good chance.

“We’ve seen a few strange results today so hopefully we’ll just keep going through - we can definitely win it.”
