Darlo have now gone five games without a win with three draws and two loses and sit 12th, writes Tom Feaheny.
Speaking after the loss Gray told the club's website.
"Chorley were good, the early penalty and the defensive mistakes meant we had no chance getting back into the game
"We got our goal back but we were open to the counter attack throughout due to the goals we conceded.
Gray said that although disappointed the circumstances the side are facing at the moment means they have to look at where they are.
"We have to be realistic, we have no right to win games, we know where we have come from, we have a lot of work to be done, I want to be in the play-offs all season long, but we have had injuries and travelling.
"We need to remain positive and look at the bigger picture that we know in a few months, we want to be up there."
