Grant, Noel And Sue Kick-Off Our New Years' Honours List!

By Sam Elliott

It’s time to kick awards week off in style as we celebrate those who make our game what we know and love.

Thanks to our incredible title sponsors Vanarama, we have been able to properly recognise the great and the good of the game for the past five years.

Giving a well-deserved nod to those who offer up their time just for the love of their club and community, we’re thrilled to be able to bring their stories to life.

Over the past few years, those behind the scenes at Boreham Wood have been busier than they’ve ever been.

The FA Cup does that to a club, and just when some of the hard workers maybe wouldn’t have minded a bit of a quieter season, they’re on the march again!

Grant Morris does so much, including helping with the club shop as well as being Wood’s Travel Club Manager.

A volunteer for over ten years, he has had a big hand in developing the club’s social media platforms, improving their output so they can attract more fans and keep their regulars engaged.

Grant has also been giving his time to enhance their matchday experience, including sourcing a company to install a new turnstile system and finding the ticketing partner to enable Wood to sell paperless.

During their FA Cup run last time, the dad-of-three helped generate over £20,000 in additional revenue for the club. Who knows what’s around the corner this year if their latest journey continues!

Everyone in the area knows Southport have local superstars keeping things ticking over at their club.

But Noel Warham, they feel, is someone whose hard work really needs to be highlighted.

His role has been carried out with enthusiasm since he first put his hand up nearly 15 years ago - and he’s only just getting started!

His involvement stretches back to 2008, and he has been involved as a coach and manager of Southport’s women’s team, as a Trustee of the Community Trust and Chairperson of the Community Teams Committee.

That encompasses all teams below the men’s first team - he oversees a total of 21 sides.

He clearly knows what he’s talking about and it’s a good job as he often stands-in as the club’s PA announcer when needed!

Sue Reason refuses to let anything hold her back from helping Farnborough settle back into National League life.

Whilst having to withstand some disabilities, she works tirelessly around the club week in, week out to make sure things are in order at Cherrywood Road.

As well as helping maintain the upkeep of the stadium, Sue can be found in the popular club shop and alongside her partner Derrick the couple make sure the fans are kitted out and that the tills are ringing.

When not at the Easy As HGV Stadium, she is busy organising travel plans and taking bookings to enable supporters to get to and from away games.

Farnborough tell us Sue is a “lovely lady and quite simply one of those volunteers who goes above and beyond.”

Chairman Simon Gardener described her as "worth her weight in gold" and says they couldn’t do it without her!

Congratulations to our three very worthy winners!
