Goodliffe Joins Woking as Number Two

Goodliffe, 43, started his coaching career as assistant-manager at Boreham Wood during the 2010/11 season with the club struggling at the foot of the Conference (National League) South table.

Their form improved, finishing the season in fourteenth place.

He joined Harrow Borough as assistant part-way through the following season, helping them to move out of the relegation zone and ending the season in fifteenth place.

He joined Stevenage as first-team coach in May 2013, reaching the League Two play-offs in 2015, before re-joining Boreham Wood as assistant-manager the next season.

Goodliffe will be familiar to Cards fans from his playing days, starting his career in the youth team at Brentford in 1990 before signing for Hayes where he made over 300 appearances.

The centre-back joined Stevenage Borough in May 2001 where he spent six seasons, moving to Rushden & Diamonds during the 2006/07 season.

The following season he signed for AFC Wimbledon, captaining them to two promotions during his two seasons with the Dons.

He finished his playing career at Sutton United.

Goodliffe said: “I had a phone call from Anthony and really liked what he had to say, I liked his enthusiasm. his ambition for the club and where he wants to take things, and was very pleased to be offered the job.

“The league is something I’m very familiar with, I’ve spent a lot of my career at this level, playing over 600 games, and I’ve been coaching at this level for the last couple of years at Boreham Wood and higher before that with Stevenage. I think Anthony sees my experience as something he would like to tap in to.”

Limbrick commented: “When you come into this league as a new manager you’re looking to have someone who’s going to support you first and foremost on and off the pitch. The important thing as well in this situation was that someone came in with experience, and when you’re looking for experience Jason’s definitely got it, having been a player in this league playing many games, but also being a captain and being a leader, and also being an assistant manager and coach, I think he ticks all the boxes and we’re looking forward to start working with him”.
