Good Start For New Avenue Loan Signing

Bradford Park Avenue have signed experienced defender Rob Atkinson on loan from National League neighbours Guiseley AFC for the remainder of the season.

Originally with Barnsley, where he made eight appearances, the 30-year-old was sent out on loan with the likes of Scarborough, Halifax Town, Rochdale and three spells with Grimsby Town whilst on the Tykes` books.

He signed a permanent deal with Grimsby in November 2007 and played eighty-three times as a Mariner before leaving in the summer of 2011 to join then-fellow National League outfit Fleetwood Town.

Two years and thirty-five games later, Atkinson moved to Accrington Stanley and after playing fifty-nine times for them, became the second signing for Guiseley made by current Avenue boss Mark Bower ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Atkinson made a successful start for his new club, starting in the 2-2 draw with high-flying Salford City last night.
