Good Sports! Howell Now Hoping For Four In A Row

Eastbourne Borough manager Jamie Howell isn’t surprised by how quickly things have turned around for the club - but knows only hard work will prevent another season twist!

The Sports made a painfully slow start, losing their first two game and performing poorly.

Borough took only two points from the first 12 available and the new manager saw what kind of a challenge was in front of him.

But since then, things have got so much better. Eastbourne have won four of their last five matches in the Vanarama National League South and in their previous three game come off winners against Bognor, Chippenham and Concord Rangers.

Today it’s a tricky trip to St Albans City but Howell is hopeful their good run will continue.

He said: “It took a while to get going and that wasn’t a massive shock. When you try and get your message across about playing style then it will take time especially with a new manager at the helm.

“There’s a lot to be said for a bedding in period so no, it’s not a total shock we’ve managed to get some wins on the board. I’m happy with how we’re playing but cautious at the same time.

“This league is really demanding and the only way we can carry on producing results like we have been in by staying focused and by maintaining the high standards we have set ourselves.”

On today’s game with St Albans City, Howell knows the Saints recent slip up is just that.

“No doubt about it at all, they’re a good side who are going through a mini blip,” he said.

“They have had a great start when you look at the stats, six wins from eight I think, and they’ll pose a real danger to us.”
