Goal Surge Continues On Sizzling Second Saturday

Flying starts were built on with some records set straight on a brilliant second day of the Vanarama National League season.

Chesterfield scored four again as they overcame a tricky trip to AFC Fylde, Will Grigg, Liam Mandeville, Ryan Colclough and Tyrone Williams all found the target.

Southend United’s players continue to focus on the football after a tough summer, they won well again - a 2-0 victory at Dagenham sealed by Harry Cardwell and Oliver Coker.

Oldham Athletic bounced back from their Roots Hall horror show by hitting Aldershot for five, James Norwood, pictured, grabbed his first Latics goals. Brennan Dickenson got two in the 5-1 win.

Manny Dieseruvwe was deadly late on as his double helped Hartlepool United to a 2-1 victory against Gateshead. Matty Warburton also helped himself to a brace as Solihull Moors won 2-1 at Ebbsfleet.

In the live TNT Sports game, Barnet made it back to back wins as they defeated Bromley 2-0. Nicke Kabamba made it safe in the second half after Danny Collinge put the visitors ahead after 25 minutes.

Regan Linney was a two goal hero too, he helped Altrincham win at Woking 3-2 as Maidenhead United saw off Dorking Wanderers.

Kwesi Appiah wants to be Boreham Wood’s main man this term and he got off the mark in a 2-0 victory over FC Halifax Town. Eastleigh and Wealdstone couldn’t be separated in front of a big crowd.

York City haven’t started well and Kidderminster left with a 1-0 win, Amari Morgan-Smith with the winner.

Blyth Spartans blaze the trail in the National League North - JJ O’Donnell inspired a 2-0 win over Warrington which puts them top and they did it with ten men.

Tamworth tore Spennymoor apart, the 4-1 win in the north east was arguably the result of the day.

Frank Mulhern scored twice as Scarborough won 3-0 against Banbury. Chester did too - Iwan Murray put the seal on victory over King’s Lynn Town.

Lewis Salmon scored two early goals as Alfreton added to Southport’s early season woes. Ben Fowkes earned Peterborough Sports a big point at Scunthorpe.

Elsewhere it was a good day for Brackley, Boston United and Hereford after Connor Stanley’s late late winner at home to Darlington.

There are some very unexpected names at the top of the National League South.

Worthing are sitting pretty after a stunning 3-0 win at Torquay United, Ollie Pearce doing the damage.

Hemel Hempstead have started superbly, a 1-0 win at Welling United was sealed by George Williams.

Jordan Bastin made it two from two for Weston-super-Mare as they beat Tonbridge and joining them still at 100 per cent is Chippenham. Jack Evans hit two as they strolled past Havant & Waterlooville.

Jordan Thomas notched a double as Bath City beat Maidstone United 3-0. But the day’s hat-trick hero was Siju Odelusi as Aveley eased past Taunton Town.

Elsewhere there were wins for Dover Athletic, Yeovil Town, Braintree and Weymouth who beat Dartford 1-0.
