Glovers Are Sure That Blue Skies Are Closer Than Ever

Dennis may be on its way, but Yeovil Town are determined to ride their own storm and come out the other side.

The Glovers know they need to stop the winds of frustration swirling on Saturday - and they need to stop being camera shy, too.

Town have lost all three of their live BT Sport games this season, and while clubs love seeing the trucks roll up on the morning of a match those at Huish Park know they need to shake their stage fright against Chesterfield.

Defeat against Barrow, Dover Athletic and Sutton United hasn’t made for great viewing for their fans in front of the sofa.

To make matters worse, they are now without a win in five. Tuesday night’s 3-0 loss at Harrogate Town hurt and- with title hopes fading fast- manager Darren Sarll is determined to put things right.

“This is our first patch of adversity - and this is where you see the real people,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.

“You see the qualities of a man’s character. The pressure of winning doesn’t stop - if you’re fourth, you have to win. If you’re fourth from bottom, you have to win.

“If you don’t win, you’re thrown to the wolves and the corridors to hell open!

“I am at my absolute best when people push me into a corner. My players share my character.

“The dressing room can be quite volcanic but we need to come out swinging, fighting and kicking.

“I am a swinger and kicker! It does take over your whole life. From how you are with your children, your wife - I’ve always been like that, I throw everything into it.

“It’s how strong you are. This is when you need to stand up and show our character.”

The manager has backed striker Rhys Murphy to rediscover his goal touch in front of the cameras after four without a goal.

He is going through what Sarll says is a spell all forwards do but the forward isn’t low on confidence.

He said in a club’s press conference: “Maybe we let ourselves down a little bit on Tuesday against Harrogate, especially in the second half.

“We had a lot of fans come up to see us and we let them down too.

“Yes, we’re not on the greatest of runs, but it sometimes only takes one result for things to change.

“It’s my job to score goals and I want to do my job. That’s what I want to do, but I want three more points this weekend.

“We owe the fans a good performance and hopefully a win.”
