Giddens Gets His Hands On South’s Big Prize

As we head into the business end of the season, every point can make all the difference. A team that know this better than anyone at the minute is East Thurrock United.

January saw the Rocks escape the drop-zone thanks to a number of inspired performances from stand-in skipper Jack Giddens.

Taking the armband while Sam Higgins is out, the 26-year-old has been a force to be reckoned with between the sticks, keeping three clean sheets to help his side to huge victory over Gloucester City and a draw against Dulwich Hamlet.

Not to mention a man-of-the-match performance in their win over Eastbourne Borough to cap off an excellent month.

A point at Concord Rangers on New Year’s Day had the stopper believing his side had “turned a corner” in their survival race and you certainly wouldn’t disagree on January’s evidence.
