The Cards’ top performer has become the latest National League player to sign for Martin Allen’s newcomers.
Despite Carter’s best efforts, he couldn’t keep the club in Non-League’s top flight.
He scored 12 times from midfield and Woking did all they could to keep him.
But Chesterfield have made their move and he joins the club who hope to make an instant return to the EFL.
“While I am delighted to sign for Chesterfield, I am sad to leave Woking and the club will always be important to me,” Carter told Woking’s website.
“I will look for your results first every week and look forward to seeing you at the top of the National League South table.
“I would particularly like to thank all the Woking Academy staff who helped me to develop as a young player.
“Thank you also to every Woking supporter for backing me over the last two years of first team football. I will miss you all.”
