Garrard: Team Were Not At The Races During Loss

Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard says his side deserved their loss against Maidenhead United after they were defeated 2-1.

Garrard reflected on a disappointing afternoon for his side as they are now 11th a win would have seen them move to joint-top in the league, writes Tom Feaheny.

Speaking to the club's website after the full-time whistle Garrard said.

"It was poor, we didn't get round the park, they looked stronger, we knew what they would offer us, there was no surprises from that respect. I just felt we were not great.

"We have played three games in seven days with only one change, maybe that played a part, but in no stage should they be being better man for man at any part."

The Wood boss said comparing this performance to previous ones made it even harder to understand.

"I'm frustrated with how we played against Dover and Leyton Orient, I have to dissect why there was a change for this defeat, we didn't pick up enough second balls or third balls, I just felt we were not at the races."

Garrard though is confident his side will be able to put it right ahead of their next game next Saturday.

"We need a reaction against Ebbsfleet, we always get a reaction when we need one, we will have a good week with the lads, that is important."
