Garrard Says He Saw Wood's Incredible Response Coming!

Luke Garrard says he just knew his Boreham Wood side would totally flip Monday night’s match at Chelmsford City on its head.

His team were 2-0 down at half-time in Essex and their attempts to climb into the National League South play-off places looked unlikely.

But a thrilling turn around changed all that - Lee Ndlovu stepping off the bench to score twice and inspire a third win in four.

Garrard says he saw it coming and told his downcast players exactly that at half-time.

“I’m not saying I need to do the lottery, but I called it," he said.

“I told them at half-time that we would win this game 3-2. I broke the second half down into spells for them, and thankfully we got the early goal that put the opposition on the back foot.

“We’re a team who like to keep clean sheets and it is frustrating that we haven’t, but full credit to the group.

“I’m don’t think it is going to be a season defining moment, and that’s not me trying to play it down. But it’s a big three point.

“Last week we spoke about what a big week this is. We went to Bath City and won 2-1, and now we go and win a 3-2 at Chelmsford after being 2-0 down.

The manager says his match-winner didn’t hide his frustration at being benched - but then took it out on the shell-shocked Clarets.

He added: “Lee Ndlovu wasn’t too happy about being dropped but I told him maybe he needed a little reaction. He gave us one with two goals."
