Garrard Issues Rallying Cry To Wood Fans

Garrard hopes to break their Vanarama National League record attendance at Meadow Park as plenty of O's fans are expected to travel.

After a flying start to the season, Wood are winless in the last three games, losing their previous two which sees them sit tenth on eleven points.

In contrast, Orient have now found their stride, led by striker Macauley Bonne, who is the division's top scorer on seven goals after scoring a hat-trick on Saturday, and perch second in the division.

On this Saturday's fixture, Garrard said: “We are meeting as equals, not a National League club vs a Football League side, but two National League clubs, and two National League clubs who have been fighting at the higher end of the division so far this campaign.

“I think that it is fantastic, and we want to be able to give them a game, but we need our supporters to get behind us.

“We may not have the thousands that Orient do, but we’ve got a very loyal, and very noisy fan-base, who live for days like this.”

The club's current attendance record was set against Grimsby Town in 2015, where the crowd was 1,293.

The match is all-ticket and Garrard wants the local Borehamwood community to turn out. He added: "I would love to shatter our attendance record, but I want it to be our own doing. I want it to be because the Wood Army turned up in their droves to back us in what could potentially be our biggest match this season.

“It would be a huge achievement to beat our attendance record and we are itching to do so; we want to make Boreham Wood supporters out of the whole town and Saturday is a big opportunity to do that.

“It will be an excellent day of football, the boys are all right up for it and are raring to go, they want to show these big club’s what the National League is all about.

“With so many Orient supporters expected to attend, of course we are going to need our fans to come out in full force. It is a big game, and one that we will be right up for.”
