The Bulls are due at Edgeley Park on Saturday for Marc Richards' first National League North match in charge.
He needs to get to work quickly. Hereford haven’t won since August 14, and have lost six of their last seven league matches.
In Richards’ first game at the helm they tumbled out of the FA Cup to Welling United and while County progressed again in the competition, Gannon fears they could be coming up against a wounded animal.
He said: “They have signed some new players and of course they have a new manager - they’ll be desperate to impress.
“I don’t think you can read anything into their results over the past few weeks, not at all. They will be dangerous.
“Form will totally go out of the window because it’s a totally new start for them.”
County sit 11th and although a win probably won’t quite be enough to drag them into the play-off places, Gannon says they are getting closer.
“We’re in good form,” he added. “We avoided two big FA Cup banana skins in South Shields and Corby, two sides in great form themselves, and we won 1-0 at Darlington in between.
“We’ve got a run of home games coming up now in October and we need to make the most of them.”
