Fylde's FA Cup Fever Hits New Heights

By David Richardson

AFC Fylde have sold over 2500 tickets for their massive FA Cup second round clash against the 2013 winners Wigan Athletic, of League One.

The Coasters have never been this far in the competition and are now getting set to host their North West neighbours in front of a bumper crowd.

The tie takes place on Friday, December 1st and will be broadcast live to the nation on BBC Two with a 7.55pm kick-off.

Fylde expect a sell-out crowd on the night which is why the match is all-ticket - and already fans are snapping up their place on the terraces.

The club are also offering supporters the chance to purchase a limited edition FA Cup shirt to mark the occasion.

Dave Challinor's side reached this stage by beating National League rivals Wrexham 1-0 and then the National League North's Kidderminster Harriers 4-2.

Speaking about their tie with Wigan, Challinor said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the draw. It’s an opportunity for our lads to pit their wits against one of the top ranked teams left in the competition and also one of the recent winners of the FA Cup.

“We are at home too so it will be the biggest game that has ever been staged at Mill Farm and probably the biggest game in the club’s history. It’s a great occasion and one that we are relishing."
