Frost Handed Wings Helm

...Dean Frost has agreed to become first-team manager in succession to Louie Fazakerley, who was sacked yesterday.

Frost took up the post this morning and met the squad and took training.

He will be well known to supporters, having been part of Jamie Day’s backroom staff.

“I’m delighted to have been offered the job, it’s one that was very difficult to turn down,” said Frost. “Welling is a club that I have a long affiliation with having supported the club during the late 1980s, then signing on as a youth trainee some twenty years ago and more recently as first-team coach working alongside Jamie Day. So I know the club very well.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to now manage the team and I am very much looking forward to the road ahead.

“The aim is clear, survival. The club, players and most importantly supporters, want to remain in the division and that’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to, and one that me and my staff believe we can achieve.

“I do not underestimate the task ahead and how hard it’s going to be. It’s going to be a big test of character.

“However, there’s enough quality in the squad and if we can lift the morale and mood, get the team better organised then I believe the situation will improve and team can start picking up the points that we need.”

Frost will be joined by Barry Ashby, who returns as assistant-manager, and Jamie Turner as goalkeeping coach in his backroom staff.
