The Australian defender had already agreed terms to stay at Borough for the coming season – but after mulling it over – he’s opted for the London studios over the Priory Lane turf as he looks to pursue a modelling career.
He joined the club midway through last season and says leaving wasn’t an easy decision to make.
“I’ve loved my time at Borough,” he told the Eastbourne Herald. “Team-mates, staff and supporters all made me feel welcome and it really is a special club.
“But after a lot of thought, I have taken this tough decision to switch the focus of my career. I wish the club every success,” he added.
It’s a situation that might uproot a team’s plans with the season opener fast approaching. But manager Jamie Howell says it’s a blow his side can recover from.
“I am aware we have a gap to fill, and we are pursuing more than one option, so I am confident this is just a glitch in our team-building and not a mortal blow.
“We understand James’ decision and he goes with our best wishes. I have assured him that the door is always open.”
