From One End Of The Country To Another! Hall Makes Big Move

Torquay United have announced the signing of Asa Hall from Barrow which will see the midfielder make the 350 mile journey from one end of the country to the other, writes Tom Scott.

The Gulls suffered relegation to the National League South last season, something Hall helped Barrow avoid but he told the club’s official website that after speaking to Gary Owers, he only had promotion on his mind for the coming campaign.

He said: “I’ve had a number of calls from the gaffer during the Summer and he spoke of one aim and that was promotion.

“Once I’d spoken to him and he’d put his ideas across, I was really interested. I’ve had a taste of promotion before [with Cheltenham] and to have a chance to do it again is a big thing.

“The way the gaffer is talking, we can definitely have a good go.”

As well as Barrow, Hall has represented a host of National League clubs including York City, Aldershot and Cheltenham and brings a wealth of experience with him to Plainmoor.

Hall was Barrow’s skipper last year under no fewer than four managers and is sure to give his new manager a headache as he mulls over his captain for next season.

“I like to be a leader” said Hall. “I was skipper at Barrow last season under four managers so I must have been doing something right.

“Last season at Barrow was tough. My experience helps me to pull players through difficult situations.

“I’ve got lots of energy, I can still get up and down but I can also sit and anchor the midfield if I need to. I’ve got a bit of everything really.”
