Fringe Players Show Their Worth To Barrow Manager

By Steven Coney

Barrow boss Ady Pennock praised his fringe players for their impressive performances in the FA Trophy win at Nuneaton on Saturday.

The Bluebirds won 1-0 in Warwickshire thanks to a last-minute winner from striker Byron Harrison.

Barrow managing director Andrew Casson last week told supporters that there would be plenty of change in January.

But a number of Pennock’s squad who have been underused showed the boss just what they’re all about.

Pennock told The Mail: “Joel (Dixon) came in and did so well and kept a clean sheet.

“Jack (Bartham), Dan (Jones), young Donovan (Makoma) and David (Fitzpatrick), who came on as a sub have all have done very well, and it has given me the opportunity to look at them.

“We have got the January transfer window coming up and the ball is in their court, like I said before.

“But to come here, it was all about getting into the next round.”
