Four Straight Defeats Hurts Lambs Boss Morrell

Andy Morrell called for a shift in mentality from his Tamworth players following their fourth defeat on the trot.

A 3-2 home loss to Alfreton saw the Reds leapfrog the Lambs in the Vanarama National League North table.

Tamworth are now in the lower half but their manager believes there is enough about them to turn things around and get their season back on course.

But first they have to stop letting in ‘silly goals’ and the manager told his squad they have to take responsibility at both ends of the pitch if they are to move forward.

“At the moment, we haven’t got the will to keep the ball out of our net,” worried Morrell told the club’s YouTube channel. “We have got to do something about it.

“We just haven’t got the desire to do the hard side of the game at the moment, the running back and work at the other end, and that needs to change if we want to be where we want to be.

“You can speak about formations all you like, it’s about shaping and getting yourself back behind the ball,” he added.

“We have given them too really poor goals in the first half, shown enough character to get back into the game both times,

“I think they are still brave, they still want to play. Confidence has taken a bit of a hit clearly but the bottom line as everyone knows is that you can’t gift teams goals in this league.”
