Former Blue Becomes A New Claret

Chelmsford City have announced the signing of Louis Yuill.

Eighteen-year-old Yuill joins the Clarets following his release by Birmingham City in January 2017.

The Scotland Schoolboy international can play at right-back, centre-back or midfielder and first joined the Blues from West Ham United at under-16 level.

The versatile youngster strengthens City’s defensive options but the club are currently in negotiations to have Yuill sign dual-registration terms elsewhere to gain earn valuable game-time.

However, the young defender admitted it was Rod Stringer and Nick Haycock’s ethos that brought him to the Clarets: “It was mainly through Nick Haycock. I was with at West Ham with Nick when I was younger.” he said. “I heard about how well Chelmsford did last season. They’re very professionally run, and having been in the professional game it basically is a professional club. It’s very well run.

“It’s a professionally club. The coaching is fantastic. Rod and Nick are both really good coaches, that’s why I’m here.

“Playing youth football at Birmingham and West Ham United is a bit different to be fair. I’ve trained with Chelmsford for the past few weeks. I feel like I’ve learnt a lot over just these few weeks because of how high the standard is. All the players have played at a high level so it is more challenging.

“Everyone is all good guys. There is good chemistry with the team and it’s a good squad to be part of. I’m looking forward to breaking in and getting experience.

“The aim is to get experience, get some games, I haven’t played many games recently but I’m really excited to be at Chelmsford City”.
