But the former Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper is going to have fun trying!
Flowers was Mark Yates’ assistant last year and between them they masterminded Moors’ survival.
Yates has since taken on a new challenge with Macclesfield in League Two, and for Flowers, moving into the hot seat is a natural transition.
He told the club’s official website: “I was interviewed for the job previously with Mark Yates and the board suggested we came in together.
“The hard thing to do will be to replicate last season but hopefully we can improve on the good work we’ve started.”
Last season was one of ups and downs for Moors fans but with Flowers staying on and the club naming Gary Whild - who also played a part in last season’s survival – as his assistant, this season looks to be one with more consistency.
Flowers said: I’ve known Gary a long time. I’ve worked with him a couple of times at Kidderminster. We’ve always been in touch.
“I don’t think much is going to change. The style of play won’t change a lot.”
“We want to improve on what we did last season.
“This club’s got ambition, make no mistake about it. The board have a plan but it’s over a period of time so we have to improve this year.
“Next season will be an incredibly tough division when you look at who’s come down from League Two and who’s come up. They mean business.”
