It’s been a testing time for the club but a first win since September thanks to Danny Kedwell’s first-half goal raised spirits.
McMahon says his players deserve credit for how they have handled a tough first few months of the season - even if the Stonebridge Road fans have had to play the waiting game.
After finally getting a first home win since August the Irishman told BBC Kent that it’s just what the doctor ordered.
“It’s a monkey off our back getting that home win after so long,” he said.
“It’s just what we needed. The fans have been fantastic and we really ground out three points for them.
“I actually think we played better in quite a few games than we did against Barrow but the way we won shows the commitment.
“Sometimes you’ve got to win ugly and we won ugly today,” he added.
“It was a whole-hearted performance, a committed performance. We’ve always been committed to the football club.
“Everybody’s here for the right reasons to progress the club as high as we can.”
