It's No Go For Hemel And Hitchin Tonight After Long Saga

The two clubs were due to meet on Monday night to contest the Herts Charity Cup final.

But after picking up injuries at Berkhamsted on Saturday, the Tudors couldn’t risk returning to the same ground two days on.

Hemel said that there was no blame attached to the club - they emphasise that there is no criticism of Berkhamsted intended, and the hot weather is to blame for the condition of the dry pitch.

The plan was to switch the game to Top Field but with the Herts FA saying logistically that wouldn’t be possible, National League South Hemel reluctantly withdrew.

However, the two teams decided to meet and play the match as a friendly game instead.

But the problems didn’t end there. This morning the clubs have confirmed that the friendly is off.

The reason this time is that no match officials could be found and the sides have had to pull the plug totally.

Dean Brennan has made a number of good signings this summer, including Charlie Sheringham who has rejoined the club after time abroad.
