Gannon’s Got Belief That County Will Come Good

It wasn’t the start his side wanted to the new season.

Going down 1-0 at home to Maidenhead United live on BT Sport, the harsh defeat perfectly demonstrated the punishing reality of the step up.

But the National League North champions and their fans didn’t see anything to be scared of - and Gannon thinks it’s only a matter of time before they get into their stride.

He said: “It’s a big learning curve for us, we need to do certain things a little better but I’m sure that will come.

“We’re disappointed because it was a great occasion and we’re so happy to be back in the National League - it’s just a shame we couldn’t get the result to go with it.

“Credit to Alan (Devonshire) and his boys because they managed the game well.

“We has some good chances. If we would have taken one of them then the match would have had a totally different edge to it.

“We have got a team that is capable, but we know it’s going to be a new level for us - and we will need to rise to it, which I am certain we have the ability to do.”

Next up for the newcomers is a trip to Notts County on Tuesday night.

“A really tough game against a very big club,” said Gannon as they look to get their first point on the board.
