Fenwick Becomes Latest New Minsterman

The 26-year-old signed a one-year deal with the option of a further twelve months and becomes manager Jackie McNamara’s nineteenth summer signing.

The frontman spent his early career in the academies of North East trio Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough before departing the latter and moving to Scottish outfit Gretna in 2009.

Later that same season he returned to his roots by joining Ebac Northern League side Newcastle Benfield and after two campaigns with them, switched to league rivals Durham City - a move which kick-started his career.

In two years with the Citizens, the 6ft forward demonstrated his killer instinct in front of goal by netting 51 times in just seventy-three appearances before increasing his goal per game ratio in a short spell with Dunston UTS where he notched 11 goals in eight appearances.

His clinical finishing had caught the attention of many clubs and it was League Two side Hartlepool who swooped for his services in November 2014 on an eighteen-month deal.

It wasn’t long before the Gateshead-born striker netted the first of his 6 goals that season with a consolation effort against the Minstermen in a 3-1 defeat as he went on to become an integral part of Pools’ epic fight for survival under Ronnie Moore.

Despite being moved out wide in a front three forward line last season, Fenwick still managed 6 goals for United before joining National League side Tranmere Rovers on loan towards the end of the season as they pushed for a play-off place.
