FC United Go Through - Avenue Bow Out

By Jessica Smithson

Wednesday`s Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round replays saw one team from the Vanarama National League North exit the competition and one go through.

Bradford Park Avenue were knocked out after extra-time against ambitious Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division side Salford City.

Former AFC Fylde favourite Ritchie Allen, who scored for the Ammies in the original 1-1 draw last Saturday, scored 4 minutes into extra-time to send the visitors through.

It finished goalless after 90 minutes, but Avenue will be ruing several missed opportunities.

Salford will now host National League side Southport in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

Avenue`s league rivals FC United of Manchester will meet West Midlands (Regional) League minnows Sporting Khalsa after winning their replay 2-0 at Silverlands against another NPL Premier Division outfit, Buxton.

The sides drew 1-1 at Broadhurst Park last Saturday, but in front of a crowd of 874, FC United triumphed, courtesy of goals from Greg Daniels after 75 minutes and substitute Sam Madeley in the final minute of normal time.
