Jamie Taylor, one of the club's all-time top strikers, returns to Priory Lane in time for Saturday's home fixture with Bath City.
The popular front man scored 39 goals for the Sports, firstly in a two-season Conference Premier spell from 2009 to 2011, and then in a brief loan spell in 2014.
He has spent this season at Margate, one of the division's most ambitious clubs, but Margate's large first-team squad - and their recent change of management - has limited his appearances.
The initial deal brings Taylor to Priory Lane on a 28-day loan, but manager Tommy Widdrington is hopeful of keeping him until the end of the season, if all goes well.
"With Darren Lok set to miss games after his dismissal on Tuesday, and Elliott Romain also close to a possible suspension for totting up yellows, this is a great time for us to strengthen our squad with one of the best strikers in the division.
"Having worked with Jamie before, I had no hesitation in re-engaging his services. He has so much to offer both to me and my coaches, and to the rest of the team. We are still a young side and still eager to learn and Jamie brings
experience and proven ability. I am sure all supporters will join me in welcoming him back to the Lane."
Borough fans have always had a special relationship with the former player of the year, and he is sure of a warm welcome on Saturday. "It's a terrific boost and it'll put a few extra through the turnstiles," commented one Priory
Lane regular. "We seem to have turned a bit of a corner in the last couple of games, and we supporters will take this as a statement of intent from the club. It looks like this season still has plenty of life in it!"
