FA Trophy R2 Team Of The Weekend

By Sam Elliott

The dust is beginning to settle on Saturday’s FA Trophy action - so it’s time to pick out the best the second round had to offer.

We’ve been investigating who the stand-out players were this weekend after the action drew to a close.

We don’t just pluck a side out of the air. We’ve put the feelers out around the grounds to get the best possible side together.

It’s been a competition full of upsets and excitement so far - and not many National League clubs are still standing!

There are a number of replays taking place on Tuesday but the draw for round three is being made on Monday afternoon.

Here’s our select 16 from Saturday’s matches. Let us know what you think of twitter @TheNationalLge

FA Trophy second round Team of the Weekend:

Goalkeeper: Lukas Lidakevicius (East Thurrock)

The composed keeper pulled off a number of great saves as the Rocks stunned National League Chester.

Defender: Gaz Dean (Brackley)
The Saints back line didn’t put a foot wrong against Barrow at St James’ Park and Dean was excellent.

Defender: Ben Chorley (Bromley)
A trip to Blyth Spartans was demanding but the centre-back eased the burden for Bromley.

Defender: Lee Burns (East Thurrock)
Outstanding performance and lead by example. Chester just couldn’t get past him.

Midfielder: Mark Anderson (Spennymoor)
Another National League side sent packing, Anderson was easily the Man of the Match as Solihull Moors bowed out at Spennymoor

Midfielder: Josh Rees (Bromley)
What a season it’s been. Rees now has 11 goals from midfield and deserves all the praise he is getting.

Midfielder: Mitch Brundle (Dover)

Chris Kinnear wasn’t pleased with his Dover side as the edged past Marine. He couldn’t have any complaints with Brindle, however.

Midfielder: Harry Pritchard (Maidenhead)
Two goals from midfield helped Alan Devonshire’s side thrash FC Halifax 4-1. Worthy winners.

Midfielder: Ricky Wellard (Wealdstone)
A perfect header from the player they call ‘Bones’ helped the Stones get past the tricky test of well-fancied Hereford.

Striker: Macauley Bonne (Leyton Orient)
How many times as the Orient top scorer rescued his team this season? He took their ties with Bognor to extra time as the O’s finished the job.

Striker: Jordan Burrow (Gateshead)

A brilliant hat-trick couldn’t quite win the day for the Heed against Boreham Wood. He has the chance to finish the job in the replay.

Substitutes:
Ian Ormson (Stockport County)
Eddie Oshodi (Wealdstone)
Thierry Audel (Barrow)
Tom Bender (St Albans)
Lois Dennis (Bromley)
