Excellent Win At Dagenham Sees Shots Go Second

By Steve Whitney

Aldershot Town impressed the Saturday tea-time BT Sport live television viewers with a 2-0 win at the Chigwell Construction Stadium against Dagenham & Redbridge to move into second place in the Vanarama National League table, just a point behind Macclesfi

The Shots went into the game knowing what had happened in the 3pm kick-offs and that the Silkmen had won.

But were also aware that a win would lift them to second with Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers being held.

Jim Kellermann’s terrific 20-yard drive after good work from Scott Rendell gave the visitors the lead after just 4 minutes.

And The Shots held that lead at half-time, despite the Daggers creating several chances, mostly on the counter-attack.

The home side fell further behind though just 4 minutes into the second half, and this time it was Kellerman who had the assist with a low cross that Rendell netted from close range.

Dagenham had plenty of possession in the second half but created little in the way of genuine chances and Gary Waddock`s side held on for a terrific win.
