The Boro boss had a nightmare journey to Weston-super-Mare and turned just minutes before kick-off at the Woodspring Stadium.
The travel chaos meant he couldn’t give his team talk but thankfully for the promotion hunters his players did the job without his pre-match words of wisdom.
Farnborough have now won six matches in a row and their late surge up the table has given the rest plenty to think about.
After a stressful trip to Somerset, things were pretty relaxed as they won 3-0 as Jordan Williams scored twice in the West Country to leave them outside the play-off spots on goal difference.
“After a five-and-a-half hour trip to get here, I arrived five minutes before kick-off but at least I got to see an almost perfect away performance,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
“It was really, really good - we had to work really really hard and what a win. I’m thrilled because we have now one defeat in 12, and that’s to the title winners.
“It was a terrible trip to get here and that was a statement to everyone. We’ve lost Aaron Kuhl, which of course I’m gutted about, but what a reaction.
“It’s such a challenge at the moment, we’re on a fantastic run and my message to the supporters is that we need you on Friday against Chippenham, who are flying,” Day said ahead of the busy Easter programme.
“We’re tired and we need that 12th man. What a group we’ve got here at the moment and we’re desperate to keep building and to see where this takes us.”
