Evatt Warns 'Work In Progress' Barrow Despite Shots Win

Barrow might be the top scorers in the National League at the minute - but their boss Ian Evatt has fired a warning to his strikers.

The Bluebirds are top of the pile at the halfway stage with 46 goals to their name - only one of four teams to break the 40-goal mark so far.

But just 18 of those goals have come at Holker Street.

Saturday's 1-0 win against Aldershot means they've lost just once on home ground since September 3.

So why does Ian Evatt still believe his side are "a work in progress"?

“That game should have been dead and buried, it should have been three, four or five and Joel [Dixon] makes a great save with the one save he had to make at the other end, but that’s what he’s there for," Evatt told the North West Evening Mail.

“Sometimes when we concede goals, the back three and the goalkeeper get criticised, but when you’re missing chance after chance after chance you have to applaud the back three for keeping clean sheets because that’s what’s won us the game today.

“I’m pleased with the way they dug in, not so pleased with the amount of chances we’re missing.

“It’s an excellent three points," he added. "There’s a lot to work on still and we’re still a work in progress.”
