Evatt To Stay Until 2022 As Barrow Boss Signs On For More

Ian Evatt is staying at Barrow until 2022 after agreeing a bumper new deal.

His three-year extension comes after an impressive season which has seen the club finish in the top half of the season.

The Bluebirds feels their team play some of the best football in the league and think Evatt is the man to push the club onto new heights.

“I’m over the moon to have finally got the new contract signed,” he said. “There was never any doubt in my mind that it would get done, and it is a sign of how professionally the new board are doing things, that they took the time to get it right.

“I’m really proud and happy to be manager of this football club and I think we’ve got a team that are really proud to represent the town of Barrow.

“That’s what every supporter said to me when I took the job, that they just want to be proud and re-engage with the team again and I think we’re showing, with things like having local owners, that we are re-engaging again.

“We’ve now got to start to look ahead to next season and make sure that we don’t settle with being mid-table and average, we want to be at the top of this league and there is no reason why we can’t.”

Chairman Paul Hornby said despite him being linked with other clubs there was little chance of the manager leaving.

“There was never any doubt in Ian’s commitment to Barrow and the new agreement gives comfort to both parties and rewards Ian after a season with so many positives,” he said.

“The professionalism at the club and the way we play football have taken huge steps forward and we are now a club players are keen to join.

“I’m sure it also demonstrates to our supporters the direction we want to take the club in, as we move forward into what I’m sure will be an exciting future.”
