England Impress As Barnet Stars Ease Play-Off Agony

The Barnet striker and his Bees team-mate Nicke Kabamba both hit the target for the Three Lions against Nepal.

They would have both loved to have been at Wembley the day before of course, but Solihull Moors made it to the Promotion Final at their expense.

Scoring for your country is not a bad way to be spending the Bank Holiday weekend.

He found the target on an historic day for Aldershot Town, who played host to over 5,000 fans.

“It’s every kid’s dream to score for England. It’s always a great feeling to play for your country,” Stead told the Non-League Paper, who will run a special feature on the afternoon in Sunday’s edition.

“Obviously we didn’t get the result against Wales but to turn that around today and get the win is brilliant.”

FA Chair Debbie Hewitt was one of those in attendance and explaining more about the game, she said: "Football has the incredible power of bringing communities together and today’s fixture is a perfect example of this.

"There has been a great deal of excitement and interest from the local Nepalese community in the lead up to the match, the first time that a fixture has taken place between our two countries at any level.

"I’d like to give a special thanks to Aldershot Town for hosting today’s match, as well as Hampshire FA and Army FA for their hospitality in welcoming Nepal FA as part of this friendship visit, promoting football for all.

“It has been fantastic to see the engagement with the large Nepalese community that live in the area, as well as the Gurkha Regiments based at the Aldershot Garrison."
