The Race For The National League South Golden Boot

By Sam Elliott

The National League South Golden Boot race may not be as nip-and-tuck as the race for the championship.

But it’s not done and dusted yet thanks to Alfie Pavey’s master-blaster at Gloucester City in midweek.

The man they are all trying to catch is East Thurrock United’s Sam Higgins, following yet another impressive goalscoring season for the classic centre-forward. He knows where the let is and always has.

With 25 goals and five games to go for the Rocks man, rival Pavey needs to really keep his scoring boots on.

The league’s two marksmen meet on Tuesday night at Rookery Hill - and both will probably have a point to prove to each other!

But first Saturday’s programme comes. Will we see some movement in the scoring charts this weekend?
