Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round Draw

By Steve Whitney

The draw for the Third Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup took place earlier today.

This is the round ahead of which the club`s from the Vanarama National League enter the fray.

A big Lancastrian derby has the potential for an upset as Hallmark Security League side Ashton Athletic host National League North outfit Chorley.

If managerless Bostik League North side AFC Sudbury are to cause a shock, they`ll have to do it some 360 miles away as they have been handed an away trip to National League South Truro City!

One tie which immediately catches is the eye is the pairing of two clubs who have recent history of winning at Wembley, as last season’s Buildbase FA Vase winners South Shields have been paired with the 2017 Buildbase FA Trophy winners York City.

South Shields` former Ebac Northern League rivals Shildon face a tough test away at Evo-Stik League South Premier Banbury United, while Shildon`s league rivals Newcastle Benfield have the chance to cause another upset as they are at home to National League North side Kidderminster Harriers, who came through a potential banana skin at ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties Leaguers Deeping Rangers.

The UCL`s sole remaining representatives, Boston Town, were hoping for a potential derby with National League North neighbours Boston United, who face a testing replay at another of the `giantkillers`, Haughmond.

However, the Poachers have another home tie with the winners of the replay between Evo-Stik League Premier side Warrington Town and NPL North outfit Hyde United having to travel to Lincolnshire.
