Emirates FA Cup First Round Draw...

By Steve Whitney

Ties to be played over the weekend of 4th November 2017.

Vanarama National League club Boreham Wood pulled one of the plumb ties in the draw for the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup as they will host famous SkyBet League One side Blackpool at Meadow Park.

The Tangerines are famous, of course, for that 1953 `Stanley Matthews Final`.

Wood`s league rivals Maidenhead United travel to another former cup winner in Coventry City, now down in the depths of League Two, and Alan Devonshire`s men will be hoping to pull off an upset at the Ricoh Arena.

League One Charlton Athletic host National League South outfit Truro City, who are in the First Round for the first time in their history and became the first Cornish side to go into the draw since 1969.

Forest Green Rovers are struggling in their first season as a Football League outfit, and will know all about their visitors to the New Lawn in Macclesfield Town.

Sutton United, who had such a fantastic run to the Fifth Round last season before eventually bowing out to Arsenal, travel to the Abbey Stadium to play League Two Cambridge United.

Dartford, who have become regulars in the First Round draw in recent years, have a home tie with Swindon Town, while Aldershot Town have a tough assignment as they travel to League One high-flyers Shrewsbury Town.

The winners of the East London derby replay between Dagenham & Rebridge and Leyton Orient will make the relatively short trip to Kent to take on a Gillingham side currently without a manager.
