Easy-on-the-Eye? South Title Race Is About 'Personality'

Worthing manager Chris Agutter says the National League South title race is about substance over style now.

He watched his side climb to second with a narrow 2-1 victory over Bath City on Tuesday night.

Just three points separate the division’s top four sides and Agutter feels it does not have to be easy-on-the-eye in the final two months.

Worthing’s third victory in four puts them right in the mix and the Rebels boss can’t wait for the run-in.

Agutter said after Tuesday’s 2-1 win: “It was certainly a hard earned three points. We played a very good Bath team and it was tough.

“We need to bang the same drum. It’s not about the pretty stuff now, it’s about digging in and personality.

“It’s about balls and mentality, and it’s about finding a way.”

His side now face Chesham United on Saturday and he knows the size of the task in hand.

“It’s a big game, it’s a massive one for us,” he told the club’s website.

“I think Chesham will make a late push for the play-offs, so it’s important to both our seasons.

“We need to go again and make sure our rest and recovery is right after some really difficult matches.”
