Dowson Plays His Cards Right After Awesome August!

After the shock of relegation last season, Woking started again. Alan Dowson came in and immediately assembled a new squad as the Cards looked to bounce straight back.

After late wins against East Thurrock United and St Albans City, it was clear from the off that Woking wouldn’t be doing things the easy way.

Three wins either side of their only defeat – against Wealdstone – saw Dowson’s men leapfrog much fancied Billericay Town and Chelmsford City.

August was wrapped up with a solid away win against Eastbourne Borough. That added to wins against Hemel Hempstead Town, Truro City and Oxford City, makes it impossible to ignore Alan Dowson’s achievements this month.

Despite being a new group, Woking have played with the character more familiar with a team who have been together for years.

Scoring 13 goals and conceding six, they found themselves on top of the pile, two points clear of their nearest challengers as August concluded.
