Dowson Is Playing His Cards Right With Seven Games Go

Alan Dowson believes Woking have the inner strength to win the National League South.

The manager believes it’s now a two-horse title race as we head into the final furlong.

Torquay United can’t be unsaddled - and even after losing a man in the 13th minute on Saturday they still responded to beat Dartford.

But it wasn’t just the Gulls showing incredible belief last weekend.

Woking stayed top as they came back from 3-1 down to draw at Welling - who have been near flawless at home this season.

“What we have got in this side is character,” said the Cards boss.

“I’ve got to be delighted with our battling qualities, we don’t know when we’re beaten at times.

“We’re still top with seven games to go. Of course we play Torquay in a few weeks’ time and that will be big.

“What we do need to do is learn from the mistakes we have made and take it from there.

“I don’t think defensively we quite got it right but I have to praise our substitutes - they changed the dynamic of the game.

“Welling are a good side who don’t lose games at home. They’ve got a great record so considering we were two goals behind we have to say it’s a good result.”
