The Cards led 2-0 at Plainmoor but the hosts’ strong second half was just too powerful for them.
Gary Johnson’s team were unlucky not to come away with three points and Dowson knows it.
“The second half it was men against boys - we got battered in every single department,” he told the National League’s Oli Osborn.
“We did well in the first half, but really we were absolutely battered after the break.
“How we’ve come away with a 2-2 draw I don’t know, they really came at us and we were holding on.
“But we’ve come to a big club, who are a full-time outfit, and we haven’t been beaten to look at it on the plus side.”
It’s the FA Cup next for Woking, and a home game with Kempston Rovers.
